Beware of Health Risks Doctors and Scientists around the world have warned against unnecessary exposure of children to RF/microwave from wireless technology and recommend safer WIRED internet connection instead, both in school and at home. We are parents who fully support the use of computers and the incorporation of technology in education, and we believe that it must be implemented in a SAFE manner.
"The combined effect of cell phones, cordless phones, cell towers, Wi-Fi and wireless internet place billions of people around the world at risk for cancer, neurological disease and reproductive and developmental impairments." "We are already seeing increases in health problems such as cancer and neurobehavioral impairments, even though these wireless technologies are fairly new in the last decades or so for the general public. This finding suggests that the exposures are already too high to protect people from health harm.".
Instead, governments should take decisive action now to protect biological function as well as the health of future generations. A rapidly accumulating body of scientific evidence of harm to health and well-being constitute warnings that adverse health effects can occur with short-term and prolonged exposures to very low-intensity EMF at biologically active frequencies or frequency combinations. The Global Population Is At Risk. Sensitive Populations Are Currently Vulnerable. Sensitive populations (for example, the elderly, the ill, the genetically and/or immunologically challenged) and children and foetuses may be additionally vulnerable to health risks; their exposures are largely involuntary and they are less protected by existing public safety standards; and they may amount to 40-50% of the population;.
Electromagnetic fields from Wi-Fi transmitters have been found to alter electrical activity in the human brain and decrease a measure of attention during a memory task (Papageorgiou et al., 2011; Maganioti et al., 2010). A Wi-Fi-enabled laptop can decrease human sperm motility and fragment human DNA (Avendaño et al., 2012). Wi-Fi signals can damage growing rat testes (Atasoy et al, 2012). Exposure to a Wi-Fi router can increase heart rates in some people (Havas, 2010). Many other studies have found effects at microwave exposures within the range of those experienced by users of Wi-Fi-enabled computers. Examples can be found here.
Acute studies of the effects of exposure to microwaves on cognitive performance have yielded apparently conflicting results. found that 50 minutes exposure to a mobile phone in humans (0.9GHz, 0.001W/m - very low) resulted in significant cognitive impairment in an auditory discrimination task in 81% of participants. found that maximum strength mobile phone exposure for 1h (0.89GHz, humans) to the left side of the brain slowed down left-hand response time. Many other studies have found no effect of mobile phone exposure or UMTS base station signals on cognitive measures (summarised Lai, 2007a, examples include Riddervold et al., 2008; Krause et al., 2007; Cinel et al., 2007; Terao et al., 2007, Haarala et al.,2007). Many studies have shown improvements in performance of cognitive tests following acute exposure to mobile phone signals (summarised Lai, 2007a, examples include Curcio et al., 2004; Smythe and Costall, 2003; Lee et al., 2003; Edelstyn and Oldershaw, 2002).
Radiation can give life and take it away. Sunlight, therapy to kill malignant tumors, powerful x-rays, and radio waves are all forms of radiation. Lately, much has been made of the health risks related to another source of invisible waves: Wi-Fi.
The increasing popularity of Wi-Fi comes on the heels of the explosive growth in wireless mobile telephones, and amid heightened concerns over the health hazards of saturating levels of electromagnetic radiation. Microwaves at current exposure levels are linked to brain damage, DNA damage, brain tumours, cancers, microwave sickness, impairment of cognitive functions, impairment of reproduction and fertility, affecting humans, rodents, birds, and bees.
"As stated by University Researchers, Government Scientists and International Scientific Advisors; a minimum of 57.7% of schoolgirls exposed to low-level microwave radiation (Wi-Fi) are at risk of suffering stillbirth, fetal abnormalities or genetically damaged children, when they give birth.
Navy has known for decades, since at least 1976, of the significant inherent dangers in using Wi-Fi but have only summarized the results in military terms of 'who can we harm' and 'can we be attacked'.
The amount of time spent on the phone is irrelevant, according to Dr. Carlo, as the danger mechanism is triggered within seconds. Researchers say if there is a safe level of exposure to EMR, it's so low that we can't detect it.
The cell phone industry is fully aware of the dangers. In fact, enough scientific evidence exists that some company's service contracts prohibit suing the cell phone manufacturer or service provider, or joining a class action lawsuit.
Over the past few years a true hero, Barrie Trower has endured the attacks of global corporations, media and governments to bring out his scientific findings about the harmful effects of LMF radiation. His focus has been on the effects of Wi-Fi in schools with children and it is absolutely chilling what he is finding.
Oct 262014 Wi-Fi health risk? CTF says "teachers rightly concerned" Letter to the Editor printed in October edition of ATA News (Alberta Teachers' Association) "The Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) has raised important questions about wireless networks and devices in schools, warning that "teachers and school communities have not been informed regarding the implementation of Wi-Fi and any inherent potential hazards." They note that "teachers are rightly concerned for their personal safety and the safety of the children in their care." "Due to an oversight, teachers were never informed that the World Health Organization reclassified wireless frequencies as a Class 2B carcinogen in the same category as lead and DDT, which is why a Los Angeles teachers' union passed a right-to-know resolution calling for teachers to be informed when their workplace hazards have changed. "The CTF advises a prudent approach to the use of Wi-Fi in schools given the newness of broad Wi-Fi coverage and the difficulty in controlling variables in research around its use. The Federation is calling for measures to reduce exposure, such as installing on/off switches, and appealing for resources to educate the public. The ATA has a responsibility to act now to protect teachers, students and their futures. "Teachers can learn about how to reduce their exposure by visiting the website of Canadians for Safe Technology (C4ST), who are pushing for needed change. "Marcey Kliparchuk, Edmonton Read On.
Wi-Fi emits RF radiofrequency microwave radiation, and both wireless routers and wireless computers contain transmitters that send information back and forth through the air. Microwave radiation is able to penetrate walls made of wood, metal, and concrete. It can also penetrate our bodies.
For someone first approaching this subject, it is important to know that there are 1000’s of peer-reviewed, published studies, many by the military, that have found biological effects from RF radiation. The public is unaware of the depth of this research that has been going on for at least 80 years.
We are told that the jury is out, that there is no conclusive evidence that RF causes harm, but that more research is needed. The science tells a different story. For example, all long-term (over 10 years), case-control studies on cell phones have found an increased risk of cancer. Scandinavian studies show that children are most at risk, with over 500% increased risk.
Most of us aren’t aware that every long-term case-control cell phone study has found an increased risk of cancer. Research has also shown that children absorb more radiation than adults, leading to significantly increased cancer rates for those who started using a cell phone before the age of 20. Cell Phone Towers Picture In many schools, the radiation from Wi-Fi is very similar to that of cell phone towers, in that it is chronic full body exposure of microwave radiation. Measurements in several schools have found that the levels of radiation are actually higher in a classroom with Wi-Fi than they would be right next to a cell phone tower.
Installing Wi-Fi in schools dangerously exposes both our children and staff to a known potential human carcinogen for over 120 hours per month at minimum. This constitutes a total of over 14,352 hours of whole body, involuntary, blatantly unethical, exposure to carcinogenic non-ionizing, microwave radiation from grades K-12.
People who are at greater risk from this radiation include children, the elderly, people taking medications, people with medical implants (pacemakers, metal rods/pins, metal fillings, braces, etc.), those with electro hypersensitivity, environmental illness such as multiple chemical sensitivity and people with chronic illness or pre-existing medical conditions.
A new study, albeit a small one, suggests that using Wi-Fi may damage sperm and decrease a man’s fertility. The cause, according to Reuters Health, is electromagnetic radiation generated by wireless communication.
In the study, published in the journal Fertility and Sterility, researchers took semen samples from 29 healthy volunteers and placed them under a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop connected to the Internet. After four hours, the semen suffered – 25 percent of the sperm were no longer swimming and 9 percent of them showed DNA damage. Semen samples kept near a laptop that was turned on but not connected to the Internet showed minimal damage, as did samples that were stored separately.
Smoking and excessive alcohol are obvious culprits in depleting sperm, said Shanna Swan, director of the Center for Reproductive Epidemiology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. She also told ABC News that men who are worried about their fertility might think about eating organic foods to avoid pesticides that might lead to less viable sperm. Eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise doesn’t hurt either.
